Drumming in my Garden

Drumming in my Garden

Growing up in a ranch in the south of Chile I learned at a young age how to co-exist in harmony with our environment: nature, and the animal world. Nature has always been a source of inspiration for me and now, living in Western Canada it continues to be so. I’ve always been creative for as long as I can remember, bringing my ideas or visions to life is a source of great satisfaction for me. Creative expression is a daily practice I have; it has greatly enriched my life as it grounds me, and helps me be in the present moment, the Now moment. My greatest desire is to heal the world and be a part of this vast spiritual awakening movement, which is taking place in our world today.

When I understood that in order to heal the world I needed to heal myself first, I began to take my own healing more seriously. With this intention in mind, I enrolled in the course Visual Quest, a shamanic painting course, with Pixie Lighthouse. This course was an eye-opening experience for me. This was followed by the Shamanic Journeying for Guidance and Healing courses with Sandra Ingerman, and by several other great painting courses I’ve taken to this date.

I believe that creativity is a medicine, which benefits both: the artist and the viewer. I call my art “Inspirational Soul Art”. The practices of shamanism and creative expression have helped me heal in many ways and continue to do so everyday. I start each creative session with a small ritual of setting up space with items that help me draw my attention inwards, and a short drumming session. My drum is a tool I use to enter into another reality and ground myself, a safe place from where I can hear my Muse (the voice of my soul). I often receive messages and words when creating, walking in nature, in my dreams, or other quiet moments in my life: words, poems, images, and stories often come to me at this time. I jot down this information and often incorporate them in my artwork. I’m a mixed media artist, from clay sculpture and wheel work, I moved to painting. I now divide my time doing both. My favorite medium is acrylic: its simplicity and quick drying time is very appealing to me.

I’ve a degree in Sociology, but I must say that the best education is provided by life itself: by nature, and every experience we encounter in life.

I share my daily life with my husband, and soulmate, John, four children, five cats, my garden, friends, creative practices, and spiritual guides. My work is intended to inspire and bring hope and joy to all that see it.
